Man, I could use that kind of digger! lol
As for the Safari, I like the detector very much. I am getting across signals that I missed or overlooked on my Silver uMax. I'm getting good at hearing the good tones, too.
I feel comfortable in All Metal now but I just started experimenting with a custom coin program which seems to be working well. First, I cross save from relic to coin mode to use the ferrous tones. Then I black out all areas on the graph from +3 to +11, and +17 to +22, and then black out +40. I'm picking up nickels and pennies up to six inches but I've only tried it one time. You do get some aluminum with this setting. This custom program should only be used when you don't have a whole lot of time to detect and you just want to look for coins and exclude most other stuff, including most jewelry (although some gold items might fall in the nickel range).
I've yet to run over any silver, though, so I have nothing to compare the penny and aluminum signals to the silver signals. Apparently experienced users can tell the difference. I guess that's something one has to learn. It should come easy after a few silver finds, at least I'm hoping so.
For the most part I prefer detecting in either Relic or All Metal mode for the depth advantage. I've found for me that it's not any more difficult to listen to all or most of the sounds coming from the ground in Relic or All Metal mode as it is to use coin and coin & jewelry mode and hear only a fraction of them.
That's about all I can report for now.
