I had the whole day to detect, but where to go?! I decided to revisit the farm where I found six North West Mounted Police buttons a couple of weeks ago. Aside from the buttons, the only other good finds from this farm have been a few IH cents.

Today I decided to drop my frequency down to 8khz, and man the buttons started popping out! It was like a feeding frenzy for 45 minutes, I pulled nine NWMP buttons from the hard packed lane that circles the old house. Some are crushed from being driven over for 120 years, but I managed a couple really nice ones.

Also got an 1897 IH cent, and a hallmarked silver pipe stem band.

This makes a total of 15 NWMP buttons from this site now. I would say that it is safe to assume that one of the previous residents was a member of The Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Ehhh???

Pretty incredible to find 15. Well done...

Very nice . Hope they keep coming

I think there may have been an RCMP member in the farm family, but he was much later, like 1910-1930. That being said, I haven't found any RCMP evidence at this site, only NWMP. I will keep looking, I'm really hoping for a badge or buckle!

That is awesome! Congrats!!

That's a button farm alright growing those right and left! Maybe the button factory!
...see what a little less discrimination will do for ya!

Thanks beepbeep, I'm running my disc at 0.0 as usual. My poor ears lol

Congrats...reminds me of the button hole I fell into last summer...128 WWI and WWII buttons...

Yeah I remember that, what a crazy amount of great buttons you dug! I guess when it rains it pours lol. Have you returned to that spot and found any more this year?

That's insane!! And a little silver too. With all those buttons there, there just might be a badge or buckle with your name on it.
Congrats and Good Luck with more finds from there!!

What a great day. The farmer might have had a comely daughter or two. Hope you find more gear. Did they have similar equipment to what the RCMP had? Those were some sharp uniforms. Good luck and thank you for sharing.

Not yet...but will be making a return (with a sifter) this fall.

Interesting, I've tested 8khz & I get the opposite, the signals dry up completely. Strange.....

Great hunt man! What's the react, silencer and audio response in your program? I've tried the lower frequencies, but I always end up right back at 18. Would be nice to find some settings I enjoy on a low frequency for a change up.

Huge day indeed! Congrats [emoji106]

That is a great batch of buttons J. Nice finds.

Looks like you had a fun hunt JC, congrants on digging all those cool buttons, the Indian Head and other finds. :occasion14:

Maybe they camped there because the farmer had hot daughters, sounds good to me ha.

The NWMP eventually turned into the RNWMP in 1904, and then finally became the RCMP in 1920.
