I hit 3 different places today. All three locations produced some keepers. The first place was a park that I've hunted to death over the years. This large park had some good finds since discovering it back around 2000. I decided to concentrate on the side strips where I last hunted about 3 years ago. Gophers had ravaged this area over the last 3 years so I thought it might be good after the gophers might have brought up some deep targets for me! My hunch paid off! 2 mercury dimes dated 1923 and 1938 were both 1 inch deep in the gopher dirt! I dug out 20 shallow wheat pennies in the same area, all were 1 to 3 inches. Our parks here in the city are infested with gophers...I love to see the mounds!

Site number 2 was a elementary school where some construction was going on. It's always good when some old dirt is being moved around! Right off the bat I dig out a 1937 90% silver Philippines coin! These coins were minted at the Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Denver mints between 1903 and 1945. At this same school another surprise in the construction area was a sterling silver St. Sebastian medallion!

Site number 3 was a side strip and sand box at a small park in town. The side strip had 5 wheat cents that were mostly 5 and 6 inches deep. The sand box had $4.02 in clad and a 1943-P war nickel!

So it was a good day! You don't always find good stuff at every place!

Congrats on some nice finds and post

I like that Philippines coin, I never seen one before and I also found a 1943P war nickel today.

Killer finds. Love the foreign silver!

great finds, great pics and great post, congrats

Excellent hunt & post with cool pictures and breakdown of your target areas. I appreciate your thinking in targeting "unsuspecting" little strips of sod or bare dirt to hold good finds. It doesn't take a very large piece of dirt along a heavy traffic area to produce keepers. You did excellent. Now take back your state from them damnable Pinko Commie Scum and things will be A-OK.:headbang:

Those little strips along side sidewalks, parks, and roads have been real good places to hunt over the years. Most hunters overlook these areas and think the "big park" is the place to go. I could write a book on the keepers I've found in the small places. ....I like you comment on the politics in my area, it's sad but true..:(
