We did no detecting last weekend as Cru'dad was on holiday, but it's lucky we didn't try because with the most recent heat wave it would have been undiggable. As luck would have it, we have now had a lot of rain & conditions are perfect again. This hill top Roman Site has been pretty much cleared out by us over the years, but as the set-a-side weeds were not that bad, it's was worth a last try before it gets sold for housing.
Although some patches were unworkable, we were hoping the Archaeological trenches filled in a couple of years back might help the otherwise no ploughing issue.
Overall we did better than expected with a 6 hour grid:

8 Scrappies
1 & a bit Jetton's
2 Poor 17th C Tokens
1675 Farthing
1666 1/6 Swedish Ore of Karl XI (poor condition but a first)
2 Hammered - Unknown Penny & a unknown cut Short-cross
My Star:thumbsup: find of the day a late Medieval Spur Rowel.

It's always hard for me to see good sites ruined. They are tearing apart a major historic part of the neighboring town. I'm glad you saved some more incredible items. That spur is awesome!!!

Jep, truly a star find! Where do you date them? Late 14thC. or into 15thC.?
Very good day for June. :occasion14:

I hear you but it's not that 'great' a site. Nothing other than a few archaeological ditches to destroy, no structures to worry about.
From my point of view as a Historian, they are destroying more of the Country-side than history. It's a ploughed field, most of the context is lost.

Very Nice!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!

Always posting these amazing finds! Big congrats on such a neat haul!

oh, to detect in your motherland!!! I love all your posts. You constantly make my treasure fever worse. Lol.

CRUSADER, I love seeing what you dig, even your junk is better than the stuff I dig, I agree, when I see some of the stuff you dig, it makes me want to go dig, great finds again

I also take inspiration from all the Tnet Today Finds before I go out detecting. A ritual before going out on a hunt.
We have a great community here & thank-you for your comments.
