After a long cold wet winter, I went to a city park just to get out of the house and hunt. The park has been hunted thoroughly by everyone with a MD and I didn't expect to find anything. I was amazed to find this 1919 D merc at about 2.5". My XLT said it was a quarter at 6.5", but I forgave the error. The token is from the Menninger Clinic that left Topeka, KS a few years ago. No place is ever hunted out!

Nice looking dime. Hope you get out again real soon.

Wow!! 1919, and look at that detail. Some Mercs have a good bit of detail on the Reverse, but there'll be some noticeable wear on the front. That coin looks great!

the freeze and thaw patterns cause items in the ground under the surface to shift around slightly --- which can give you a a differant angle that the year before -- and that slight angle differance can make the differance between it ringing up and not. what was "on edge" last year and missed is not this year -- so you never know what awaits. in so called hunted out spots.

thats where i lost my token,i was kinda high and drunk when i left the meeting

Good job. Isn't it nice to make a good find like that somewhere where there is "nothing left".

Love Silver...even more when there mercs... 8)
Killer finds...

Nice...well I hear that the coil will detect deeper on wet ground.Perhaps the cold Winter helped.

Nice merc in great shape! You are right about no place getting completely hunted out. I've been working a spot along with five other guys (we've put in about 35 MD hours collectively in this small area) and every time I go, I find more targets. Good work.

Nice token, it reminds me of the "AA" token I found a couple weeks ago. it was a 25 year anniversary token. The ironic thing was that I found it right by where i found a bunch of screw off wine bottle caps.(go figure)
