Hunting in OV today, Beach replenishment continues......06 May 2013
Started out at the "cave" today but there was almost NOTHING for targets there:
Just some crap!
Moved on up to the rocks and saw more of the "replenishment" that is taking place there. If you have seen some of gravediggermax's videos, you will see that they have been ripping out the old walls from between the beaches and placing rock breakwaters just offshore. Will give the whole beach that nice scalloped look but hold more sand (in theory) on the beaches themselves. They have also been moving sand from one end of the beach and spreading it in the areas of the new breakwaters. The sand has been put down and spread in layers repeatedly and you can see that they have added at least 3-4 feet of sand on top of the old beach! Yikes! Also, they are PUSHING the sand into the water in some places and this is covering some of the better places to hunt in and among the rocks. May take a while for that to settle out before it opens back up again! I have hunted some of the new sand and even hunted in the areas where they have been excavating it from but so far...zilch. Still other areas that are good hunting sopts and we will have to check in here from time to time and see if conditions change. Here are the picts:
The little square thing with the blue stone (glass/plastic) appears to be from a bracelet or necklace. It has a graphic of a pair of sunglasses behind the stone that you can just make out (stone is pretty scratched up). No idea what else it could be. Any ideas...send em my way. The knife was pretty junked up but some cleaning in the sink and some electrolysis and it is looking much better. Don't know that I'll ever get it open but, worth a shot!
