Hunting the base of waterfalls

Has anyone ever had luck hunting the base of waterfalls ?
I have a water detector and was thinking of hitting some falls.
But i have to know is it worth the 1 1/2 hour drive ?


1 Campton falls
2 Nancy cascades
3 Avalanche falls

Most of these falls are sallow in the summer

On the ones that people would swim at , most definitely I would look. Also be on the lookout for Indian artifacts .They tended to be drawn to beautiful places also,especially around water. Scuba would help a lot . I always wanted to hunt Valley Falls in WV but they made it a state park and closed it down to swimming and metal detecting.It was an Indian village then in the early 1700Rd's settlers put a mill there and a little town .All of the buildings are gone just foundations and park rangers with badges and handcuffs. Search the places while you can . Good Luck
