HOLY CRAP!!!!! That is a beauty of a coin..I mean..WOW...congrats!!:occasion14:

Beautiful coin.not a coin expert.Would that be the Large O type?

Thanks guy's and as far as it being a BIG o or a little o I ain't got a clue. Found it at an real old house place that was used as a campsite during the Civil War. Would a difference in the size of the "O" make worth any more? Anybody got an idea how much this one would be worth???d2

Nice find and a beautiful photo. What camera were you using? Photography and metal detecting really compliment each other as a hobbies.

John, the camera is Canon Power Shot ELPH 150 IS. So far I like the camera too...d2

Take in account this coin book I am looking in right now is way out of date 2007.The 1841 small o starts off in Good condition at about $20.00.The large O starts off good condition $600.00.I would say that coin is "at least" in VF condition $45.00 small o,$2,500 large O

It would be nice if it was the big O but I don't know how to tell the difference...d2

I don't really know how to tell either.Your best bet might be to post it under the coin forum and ask about it.Allot coin experts on there.Either way she is a beauty of a dime! nice find

Digiron2, thanks for the info. I will post it there soon as I can...d2

It is a later die state with the "open bud" variety (the bud directly next to the N in UNITED) which is the more desirable variety, closed bud varieties were made using left over 1840 O dies which had a lot of wear, making details less sharp. I think it has enough detail grade real well. I cant tell from the photo but from what I can see, it does look like a small O to me. The large variety almost fills the field between M in DIME and the bow, but I could be wrong from just judging from the photo.

From what I can tell from a few minute google search, I think yours is a open bud small O coin.

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe tomorrow I will find one of the big O's...d2

Still a damn nice coin...congrats :weee:
