I am just giddy waiting until the end of this month so I will have enough to get my first "real" detector. I have done a lot of reading :read2: and research (and a whole lot of help from this forum) and I think I have a pretty good handle on what to do. I am really looking forward to my first hunt. ;D :headbang:

Worst thing you can do is get ya hopes built up too far. This hobby is a very patient hobby...or ya can find a fortune in your first hour! lol.

Straight on advice from Dano. Some folks expect to find the motherload the first time out and when they don't, that's it for them. You said you've been doin research before you even have the detector, so I expect you'll hang with it. GH.

Good luck. It's not as easy as it looks on this forum.

I was the same way---could not wait....when it came, out I went to a park.
pull tabs by the hundreds it seemed and junk metal...and like .56 in change.

bummer big time, then you have to truly learn the machine. learning the beeps and readings drove me nutso but honestly in the end it is a wonderful hobby when you get a little more knowledge on best how to attack and find the good stuff!!

enjoy!!!

I have a beach trip planned over Easter and WOW I can't wait to hit the sand. I want to find all the goodies everyone left behind last season LOL (yea right, we shall see)

I hear you all, I thought long and hard on the single fact of if I would get tired of it and set it to the side like I have with several other things. That is why I looked for a while, then got on here and drank in a bunch of good info. But the great thing is now I have much more time then I use to (slowed down due to some heart problems) but I am not dead, so I have to find something to foucus on and get up and out. I was really shocked at the amount of folks that are doin mding, then in the back of my mind I thought, "wonder if there is anything to find" !!!. I like the excitment of just finding something no matter what the value, but do not get me wrong, if I come onto a high dollar find, someone will have to slap the grin off my face ;D
