Possibly West African Dahomey perhaps round mouth is very similar to west African Carvings. But also would not rule out New guinea or Melanesia either.
Best bet is to determine the type of wood it was carved from?
Ebony. One of the most famous African woods, Ebony is a very dark, almost black wood that is also very dense. It is indigenous to Madagascar and southern Africa. Due to its extreme hardness.
If it was teak which starts of golden in colour but darkens with age it could be of far eastern origin. Looking at the carving marks it looks like it was cut with primitive tools perhaps a stone axe. It looks very old much older than a tourist trinket from you friends great grandfathers day.
