I got in a couple hours yesterday between rain drops. Hunted a field that produced a few Civil War finds in the past. Now it's getting a asphalt makeover! I found Livetoplay804's Whites probe and returned it to him. I found several CW bullets also.
Today I caught up with my hunting buddy who's been sick the last week or so. We did pretty well, he dug a 1905 Barber Quarter, CW bullets and other items. I dug several dropped 3 ring bullets and a nice Eagle button. And a 1892 Indianhead . I also something that looks like a candle holder? But I am not positve on that. My last target was a 1866 or 67 Shield nickle, it's the early variety with rays between the stars. All in all it was a good day. Tsgman

A few more pics, one is a chewed bullet, I always wonder what the circumstance's were when I find a bullet chewed on like that. I am sure some are from animals but some are not. Tsgman

Nice finds TSG, good you can get out, more snow here in Germany. HH, Mike

Really cool finds..........must be an awesome site to detect.......congrats and .....HH

Bullets with teeth marks may have been from a soldier. A lot of wounds were treated with a saw to amputate limbs etc. and the doctors had no anisthesia (sp). So a bullet was placed in there mouth so they didn't grind off there teeth from the pain. That is were the term ''bite the bullet'' came from. A piece of leather was probally better but I guess they did with what they had.

i hate illinois...

great finds...Love those Indians....That candleholder (?) is really interresting

Man, some of the people on this forum just find too much good stuff to appreciate - I would say you had an EXCELLENT day!

I noticed the little box you have your stuff in - do you have a bunch of these in a drawer arraignment? I like to keep my finds sorted by sites. Right now I am just using cigar boxes and little 3 drawer plastic containers for sorting.

I keep my items in display cases with names and dates, then they end up in a larger display case. Tsgman

This one is full, luckily I have a 2nd one just like it. Tsgman
