I started off with my F75DST and found a 1944 Mercury dime. The area nearest the house was loaded with nails. The iron audio was going nuts and the detector wasn't running smoothly, so I decided to check and see if the area was one without a lot of EMI, so I could run my Omega.
The Omega ran a lot smoother in the nails and was able to pick out a lot of coins among them. It locked onto a VDI number of 85 and I knew that it was a silver dime under the search coil before I even dug. I unearthed another 1944 Mercury dime.
After I got though at that site I swung by to see a couple that I met earlier in the year. They were still have a moving/yard sale. He told me that he would take me down the street after lunch and let me detect a yard he's doing some work on for some people who are out town who have the house for sale.
I had about an hour to kill so I rode around looking for new sites to get permission to detect. I ended up getting two good ones. After lunch I met the guy at the for sale home and detected the yard. I found a few wheat pennies and a 1964 Mercury dime.
I called it a day and headed for home with a bunch of clad, 3 silver coins and 17 wheat pennies. I have high hopes for tomorrow's hunt.
This was my 45th hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 136. All done without getting skunked on a single hunt.
My F75DST detector settings: 9.0, Sensitivity 85, DE Mode, 3H Tones, Disc Level 0, GB 60.
My Omega version 6 settings: Sensitivity 70, 4 tones, 0 discrimination, GB 58.
