Twas' between rain showers. I wasn't detecting. I had taken shovel in hand to extend a drainage ditch in case we got torrential rains today, well, it just rained a little. While digging the trench about 8" wide and 8' long at the back door of my house I dug one of those temperature indicators for a turkey! And a bottle cap in plastic! Wonder who lost them? A few extremely rusty nails! And a Civil War period porcelain button. None of our clothes ever had porcelain buttons so it wasn't from us. A couple minies and an earlier round ball were found nearby, so...now all I have to do is figure out where I put it...it was nap day today.

Found it! IMG_2121.webp

Well, the "manor house" is 150' away at the top of the hill behind my house, they threw a lot of stuff over the hill and its now in my back yard, on the side of the hill and some at the bottom. "Manor house" built ca 1840.

Start sifting the soil, many keepers are hiding! :icon_thumleft:

Very nice button! Sounds like you have a great property for detecting some history.
