Two of us went to one of my sites yesterday, for a brief period of time. The farmer went deep this year and widened the field, so we decided to work the "new" edge of the field. We got both Confederate and Union bullets, I got a Merc dime! surprise! and a pre Civil War Virginia button which I don't have a picture of yet, it's the flatter kind with a silvered finish.
My funnest find of the day is a quest in progress for the coming weekend. It is a rock. To me, it's more fun than the other stuff I found, including an out of place 1912 wheat cent.
It made the Deus sing at about a 60 on the meter using Deus fast at 28 khz. Aka a hot rock...HOWEVER...hot rocks around here are generally coal. This is not coal. You can't see it in the picture but there is a golden colored vein in the rock, several actually. I will be reducing the rock to powder in the near future and smelting the golden mineral in it. Pyrites around here don't generally register on this machine, so it's probably a chunk off the famous gold veins known in this area and part of the Wissahickon schist. You know what they say...schist happens.
