sometime back i started using one half of the hedge sheers, which never made it to the yard sale table they have good stout metal good for digging, its about like carrying an old military bayonet, but a tool most of us have around, and like any other pointed tool you need to be careful
but today searching a beach area that had small chips of slate near the water's edge, using it to both slide the surface gravel away, and probing too then for some serious digging close to the beach a good multi use tool and easily obtained cheaply
