Hope everyone had a Great Holiday...
Well I've been having problems with my knee since May and had surgery in Oct.
Going stir crazy sitting here reading about all of your finds, so I had to grab my detecter and do a bit of yard hunting.
I'm lucky enough to live on gold rush property and the only draw back is, it is LOADED with ferrous trash!
Slow going but easy digging.
So I hobbled out there and started looking.
Popped a bunch of square nails and a faucet head and then I got an odd iron signal that was falsing one way and good the other.
So I stick the shovel in and popped the plug.
Out pops this clump of dirt and rust that has the distinct shape of a gun.
After a bit of cleaning, I determine it's a toy, but a cool one.
So I head to the shop and setup an electrolysis tank.
Now they say you can make one out of a cellphone charger (and I've tried), but it would take weeks to do this one.
Luckily I have a manual battery charger (can't buy one in California!!).
It took a few days, but I think it came out great.
It's most likely from the thirties like those cast toy cars.
First pic is Fresh out of the ground and wired up for the tank
Second pic is getting ready for the wax coat.
Third and forth are the finished product.
Thanks for looking
And I hope everyone has a wonderful and productive New Year
