I'm still in shock a bit. I found a Glock 42 handgun in the river on my latest hunt. The gun was fully loaded and I contacted the authorities in regards to the find. As much as I'd like for this to help out with some unsolved crime, given the location, it was probably a tourist afraid of alligators. The gun was loaded, but the magazine was full. I also found a little GoPro (well, a generic one) that still works, and a bunch of other cool stuff. This was a short hunt....after I found the gun, I wasn't motivated to hunt for sunglasses much anymore! :laughing7:

Dang!!! First rule of Firearms, treat all guns as loaded!

at least it came back clean and stilled fired nice finds

I’d have kept that puppy

Pretty cool.A couple questions,
1)If they ran the serial # they must know who the owner is.
2) how come sooo many glasses ?
3) Any video/pix on the gopro ? Maybe it belongs to the same owner as the gun.

WTG Chris! You did the right thing checking with the police first...now...it's yours! Great find man!

Nice finds. Congrats

Dude, you should set up a booth selling used sunglasses there. Nice find and always good to do the right thing. Good luck.

Is it? He didn’t say the police gave it back.

Yeah the spot were sunglasses go to die? Great video thanks for the show.

Awesome hunt. Looks like your on a Easter egg hunt under water...

Nice little 380 find. It is a glock it would of fired no problem the minute you pulled it out of the water as long as the primer or powder was not wet. YouTube some of the torture test people do on glocks you will be amazed. Cops do not have a record of every gun bought. That is an illegal gun registration list. They would only have the serial number on file if it was reported lost or stolen. More than likely the owner dropped it in the water and didn't know the serial number to report it lost.

Nice finds! Good looking gun there! If it does not turn up as crime connected and not owner found, hopefully would come back to you if you requested return in such a case. Being a Glock and polymer frame, the most it would need is a good fresh water flush and then an overall relubrication by someone familiar with how to do Glocks. Nice small gun for concealed carry. Someone might be missing that. Guess you can sell sunglasses as a side hobby?:icon_thumright:

If some of you had watched the video, you would have seen that the Police Officer ran the Serial Number on the Glock and when it did not come back stolen or connected to a crime, he gave it back to Cris. That doesn't mean it is guaranteed that he will get to keep it as it may be reported sometime down the road as lost or stolen.

Nice finds Cris and I hope you get to keep the Glock!

Since the Glock 43 and 42 Pistols are nearly identical except the overall length of the cartridge, I wonder if a Glock 43 slide, barrel and magazine can be used on a Glock 42 to covert to a 9mm. If this is possible, then you could switch calibers whenever you want or deem necessary.

Very productive hunt, congratulations! :icon_thumleft:

Nice! Florida has great gun laws seeing as they let you keep it. Make sure to follow proper gun safety and have fun with your new gun! Glocks are very nice and expensive guns!

That must have been quite a surprise
Hope you get to keep it.

Thanks for all the comments folks!

It's my understanding that law enforcement cant even find out the owner of a gun unless it was involved in a crime and they send a request to the federal agency that keeps those records on file. Florida does not even do gun registration.

It's a big party spot and the water is black...sunglasses come off your head, they're gone.

I only briefly reviewed one out of the tons of clips on the cam. Everybody was speaking Spanish and I didnt recognize the place. The cam was found in a different location than the gun.

Nice find on the weapon. Hope you find the owner.Congrats
