Woke up to a sweet sunrise !! and headed out this morning for about 4 hrs. Time is running short up here at 8,500' to 10,000' ,winter has givin us a few warnings , but it was a warm and sunny today. I went to a local mining camp and hit a foundation hole , it kept me busy and gave up a few goodies. First out of the ground was the smaller round nosed sadd iron, never found one like it before, it was on it's side 3/4 covered and partially exposed. Then I pulled a button and a rivet ,one after the other, the one is a shield button and needs some cleaning, I scrubbed the Adlers N Y one it shined up a little. The napkin holder ? is either made of pewter or lead and has some fancy embossing
Then I found the Midway Buffet 5c token, this is the second one of these I have found, they are both toasted ! anyway this token is from the Midway Buffet ,Midway was a small settlement on the electric Trolley car highline in the Cripple Creek Mining Dist , it is actually from the Midway Saloon, the term "Buffet" had me wondering for quite a few years always thought it pertained to a restaurant ,buuut through some research and an attic find paper label whiskey bottle that says Buffet instead of Saloon ,I have learned that a lot of Saloon's called them self a Buffet for the reason they put out a free Buffet to get the miners/customers in their Saloon, very happy with it ,the two I have are the only ones I've seen. I also got a nice pile of assorted bullet casings.
Then I found the " MISSING LINK" :) I believe it was for a bicycle chain ? patent date of 1896 I just love the odd stuff we all pull out of the ground !!!!!!!

Then on the way home I stopped at a park, got $1.62 in clad and a 1948 D wheatie
HH to all !! Hey Digginthe1 maybe we will run into each other in the field on our mad dash to beat the frost :)

You always bring the goods PikesPeakCharlie... I love the old buttons, I dig in old logging camps as well, and enjoy the challenge of researching these odd brands.
I got lucky on your "Adler Make" button and found out that it is a glove button from "Jacob Adler" make gloves from New York here is a photo of a sales slip that has your button logo on it...
