I found this Iron Relic on Singer Island Beach yesterday and I'm Stumped!
Hello all,
I was working the surf-line wet sand yesterday when I ran across this interesting Relic. On my first pass using my Garrett Infinium LS, I knew for sure it was iron but it was such a strong hit, I decided to dig it any way.
At that point it was in wet sand that was in & out of the shore break wash. I dug for it for about 15-minutes and still couldn't reach it. It was DEEP! So I visually marked it and kept moving down the beach. My plan was to try again when I returned back in about 1-1/2hrs, right at low tide.
When I got back to it, the tide had receded enough that it only took three deep scoops to reach it. When it was out of the hole, I looked it over and it's unlike anything I've seen before. Definitely Iron and heavy (126gms).
Any thoughts would be much appreciated,
