I found this Iron Relic on Singer Island Beach yesterday and I'm Stumped!

Hello all,
I was working the surf-line wet sand Wednesday when I ran across this interesting Relic. On my first pass using my Garrett Infinium LS, I knew for sure it was iron but it was such a strong hit, I decided to dig it any way.

At that point it was in wet sand that was in & out of the shore break wash. I dug for it for about 15-minutes and still couldn't reach it. It was DEEP! So I visually marked it and kept moving down the beach. My plan was to try again when I returned back in about 1-1/2hrs, right at low tide.

When I got back to it, the tide had receded enough that it only took three deep scoops to reach it. When it was out of the hole, I looked it over and it's unlike anything I've seen before. Definitely Iron and heavy (126gms).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated,
Jerry

Not much left. Just about all rusted away. I'll say first it looks like a ball bat.

You know, at first glance in my scoop, that's exactly what I thought too :-)

Thanks for your reply,

I'm thinking that it is an early Nut Driver.
