a ??? brass item and curious anchor
all from salt water off of a Rev war fort
the musket balls are found at low tide about 50 yrds plus off beach
usually a couple of inches to a foot down
any ideas on the brass item
anchor was found way out about 1 1/2 feet down - got a nice reading
signal got bigger and bigger and knew it was not a musketball - thought
maybe it was a large fishing weight - but was hoping for a small cannonball or period relic
don't know if this is period or not - looks like it was made in a sand or dirt mold
could it have been made from melted musketballs or lead that was supposed to be used to make musket balls - ??

At a buck a pound you did very well.
Anchor is interesting, but no idea.
Yes you have a good amount of balls.

You definitely have balls...... and a lot of other interesting finds.

The nine unfired rounds look like .30 cal M1 carbine rounds.

Bet that was a heavy load to carry, nice finds

I actually had to go back to vehicle and dump it out after 2 hrs
then went back out for another 2

yes they are - they were out in about 5 feet of water - all in a small pile - had to scoop about 5 times to get them all
don't know if someone lost them out of their pocket or threw a box out there

Cool finds, Congrats!

Cool stuff .you got everyone to look at your balls. lol

WTG! Looks like you had fun. Also looks like you found a divers weight.

The pointy thing reminds me of the wooden tops off a flag pole, like the ones people wave at parades on the 4th.

Don't know if this would be of use to you but... while living in Maine I learned that many of the old ships (fishing boats, military ships, and so on) were often times burned in the harbors and offshore in effort to recover the scrap metals they had been built with. I used to find all kinds of stuff washed up onshore close to where I lived in Eastport. After they burned those vessels, many of the metals, lesser-valued items/odds and ends were often times never recovered or able to be salvaged. hh_James
