I got What's it's. A, B, C, D...and a question on harmonica reeds.

I don't have a clue what any of these are, except the harmonica reeds. Am especially interested to find out what D might be. Looks to have measurement numbers on it.

And the harmonica reed question...When were they made out of lead? Or is it lead? We've found these before in the older sites. They have like a white coating on them and they seem a bit heavier than the normal looking reeds. I haven't cleaned these ones up, but you can see the white on them.

Thanks a bunch!! :)

It's a piece of a broken set of calipers I think? Kinda' funny to see it next to a ruler when it already has one on the bar portion. :tongue3:
By the way good to "see" you Nana, it's been a while (in the What Is It forum)

D looks like part of an old caliper, but I can't find a wooden handled one.

Happy Hunting!

OH great! Thanks a lot for the caliper ID. Any guesses on the age of them? Am I pushing my luck on that one? hahaha! So good to 'see' you too, Ben! :)
Thanks, ya'll!

Some reed plates were made from zinc alloys, but not lead.

C is a drop-style drawer pull missing its knob.

The caliper appears to have been part of a wood folding rule. It would have been a slide out caliper. The wood most likely have been boxwood.

Stanley was the leading company of wood rules...ebay is your friend when looking for a reference.
