Detector(s) used
minelab, tesoro
For a while now my Bandito has been acting weird, not consistent at all. I was thinking I got dirt in one of my switches, then it went into total failure mode. I took it in the barn and took it apart, powered it up and found if I touched a certain capacitor, it came back. Under some magnification I found a solder joint that was loose. I resoldered that joint and another iffy looking joint, and walla, I have a superior detector.
Took it in the backyard and found 5 coins fast. Now if I can get some time to use it, I'm gonna dig up some good stuff.

There you go, at one point or another everything need a little TLC. Happy hunting!

Although you did efffect a good repair, you should have just sent the detector back to Tesoro. They would have found and fixed the problem, plus checked the detector out to make sure it works properly. I certainly would not have posted that on this forum because Tesoro reads this forum daily.

If it makes you feel any better, I've repaired my Minelab also. What you don't know is I've been formally educated in Electrical/electronic engineering, and have worked in that capacity for the last 33 years. I'm quite familiar with troubleshooting and repair. Although I lack certain equipment and information to certify it meets their standards.
I did however dig up 6 coins in my backyard in less then a half hour after fixing it. I really need to spend more time with this super fast detector. Only problem is it likes foil.
