I woke up this morning to a lake in my front yard, almost didn't bother leaving the house. Caught a break in the rain around noon and decided to find some place to go. Started on a new local permission that's rather large but still might have a few goodies left over from the war. After nearly an hour here came the rain again, so I checked the radar and just started driving toward a clear spot. Tried a couple of parks since they were empty, but wasn't in the mood to dig in the mud for deep pop tops and clad hoping for a ring. So I kept driving till I passed a spot that looked pretty good so I thought I'd turn around at the next safe place. Little did I know it was an old community building, so I decided to just hop out and give it a quick test swing before going back to the other place. No more than did I turn my machine on I get a bangin' hit. First target was a president dollar, so I knew there had to be more. After a few dimes and finding an 18KT HGE diamond (?) ring, I found a nice sterling ring. After a bit more aimless wondering about and ignoring a few targets I now know I shouldn't have I hit on what sounded like either a change spill or a pile of bottle caps. As usual the only way to find out for sure was to get down in the mud and dig. The next thing I knew I had 5 Oklahoma tax tokens and my first ever skeleton key
. So I back tracked a bit and found the old multi piece button (looks burnt) and then it started pouring down rain again. Oh well I was a little ways from home and happy for the strong finish. Just what I needed, a hunt with more than just one or two keepers. I'm starting g to like my new 705.
