I have a nickel question

I went through a couple rolls this morning and found 2 each 1969 S and a 1968 S. Are these proofs? They look new. Earliest nickel I found was 1940.

There are proofs for 68-S & 69-S but there are far more business strikes (made for circulation), which is probably what you found. From 1971-present all S-mints are proofs.
