I haven't a clue what this thing is.
Hello, thanks for looking. I found this very weird item today, near a public beach on a lake, about 30 yards from the water, but before the beach on a hillside. It was on its side, with the closest surface about 4" under ground. I am using a Garrett AT Pro, and it read 99- like silver. The outside has a patina all around it, and I can't tell it is concrete or if it is metal (Propointer goes crazy when you touch it, but may just be from the contents). Inside, there is a hardened black substance that I believe was used to insulate whatever else is inside- It smells tarry- like petroleum. You can see copper coming out of the end; there is a coil and another piece, and also a piece of insulated wire. I weights about 8 and a half pounds. Thank you for any light you can shed.
