I know it's a gun but what kind...

My Dad dug this out of the ground about 30 years, any ideas on what kind it is....

May we see the end of the barrel and also know the size of the bore?

It appears to be a 35 Remington semi-automatic, clip fed rifle, made back in the 30's or 40's.

So it may of looked something like this....in the day....remington_model_8.webp

is a browning model, self loading shotgun...most copied weapon on earth...every body made them...
almost like the AK...

I have a Remington mod.11 that was made under the browning patent. Made in the late 1930's. They were used in WW2 then became riot guns for law enforcement. I still use it to deer hunt.
BTW I thought the german mauser was the most copied gun or atleast the most faked because of it being highly collectable.
Either way, glad ya'll were able to ID the gun
