I know what it is but hoping to get an idea of it's age.

New member and this is my 1st post on the site :hello:

I found this in an area of Indiana that has history dating back to the end of the Revolutionary War on a property that is now a garden and has been open since the 1930's.

I found this along with a spent casing a few feet away, a good 4-5in deep. I was able to determine that it could be as old as from 1885 by the U marking (see image)

Looks like a modern .22 long, probably droped on the 80s.

Looks like a .22 short to me, probably a Remington like you said. They still make em just like that today. A great bullet for varmints if you don't need it to go far or don't want collateral damage.
