Yeah, that was clickbait, but true in bottle terms, lol! My straight sided Coca Cola bottle collection as of now.

I be likin' those!

Those are cool!

Cool bottles

Hey I went back and looked again. I missed the pictures of the Coke bottles ;very nice I guess I just was thinking about curves not bottles . Yes show more with or without curves .

Well currently, this is all the straight sides I have. I have a bunch of 50's cokes, and a pat. 1915 coke from Huntington West Virginia.

Click bait got me! Cool bottles. I assume these are very early and precurve Cola bottles? What year are they? Tell us more :)

These particular bottles range from 1900-1915.

Coca Cola was invented by Confederate Colonel John Pemberton in 1886. He was severely wounded in an 1865 battle by a saber, and the wound left him addicted to morphine. He sought out a way to cure himself of this addiction, and invented Coca Cola. His business partner invented the famous Coca Cola script logo. At first, Coca Cola was sold at soda fountains in Pharmacies, but then it became so popular, the Coca Cola company dropped the health benefit advertising, and officially changed over to a soft drink manufacturer. Coca Cola was originally sold in Hutchinson style bottles (hint: if you find one, you are now at least $5,000 richer), but as the year 1900 rolled in, they switched over to the straight sided bottles seen above. Almost from the start, imitators began to show up, Pepsi Cola being one of the first. They came out with Hutchinson bottles, straight sided bottles and script copying Coca Colas product. Many imitators sprung up, such as

Ala Cola

Chero Cola

Pepsi Cola

My Coca Co.

Celery Cola

Koca Nola

Nova Kola

Rye Ola

Dope

Grapico

Taka Cola

My-ola

Wiseola

Kola

Sher-A-Cola

Koke

and many many more.

By 1915, Coca Cola had sued most of these companies, and put them out of business. However, there were still more imitators out there, so they invented the classic Coca Cola bottle shape that we see today. They trademarked to bottles and there green color, and haven't had a problem since (By the way, don't buy those amber hobbleskirt bottles on ebay, Coca Cola never had an amber hobbleskirt bottle). It is now the worlds most popular soda.

I am enriched with new knowledge. Thank You!

Interesting history write-up. Years ago, I would look for bottles and bottle dumps and always wanted to find one of the dark early ones. However, I prefer Dr. Pepper myself (drinking it, that is.):occasion14:

Congrats on the nice collection of bottles! :occasion14:

I rarely drink soda, but I like me a good Dr. Pepper. Coca Cola tastes decent, but not as good as a Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper. Good pick-me-up though.
