I haven't posted recently because I quite frankly didn't have much for show and tell. After yesterday's finds, I decided to post. Yesterday I did my first water hunt of the year. Nothing great just some bling, the little cars and the cool ole' crucifix. After an hour in the water, I decided to hunt the park area of the lake. Third signal was the sterling bracelet. About a half hour later I got a signal that was weird. It was like a low zincoln, kinda scratchy. It peaked my interest so I dug it. When I first got it out I saw it and said "yep another stinkin' zincoln". I rubbed it a couple times and was like not seeing any familiarity. A little more rubbing and it became clear. My first (and probably last) Indian head penny. We just don't have the history around here. I couldn't believe it. It felt almost as good as digging a gold ring. Anyhow, I apologize for the crappy pictures. It is a 1905, not sure where the mint mark is supposed to be located. So this picture is the culmination of my first half dozen hunts for 2015. A little pile of silver, no gold yet, but I can feel its coming soon. Take care and happy hunting!

Very nice finds! Congrats on the IHC. GL&HH!

Nice finds brother congrats on your first IH thats a lot of good stuff their....:icon_thumright:

I doubt that it'll be your last.... History is everywhere. People have been here for hundreds of years so God only knows who's stuff your gonna eventually come across. Great find, by the way.

Congrats on your fist IH bud! I love seeing peoples first on here

good job by you!!! ps, you will never find a mint mark on that.... if you find an 08 or 09, look on the reverse towards the bottom, being in WA, likely you will see an S, which will be a great find.

IHs will ring in like zinc pennies. They are mid range conductive. The mint mark is under the wreath on the reverse.

you never know what you will find until you dig it, there's a lot of people that still haven't found an IH. congrats and nice finds

Hey, ya know what? I got an idea for a new rule in this forum. Let's make it a rule that unless we find a gold/silver/platinum ring or any coin older than, say, 1945, (silver coins excluded). We don't post about them. After all, the guy who's out there slugging through the mud/snow/ice/trash and the like just to turn up clad isn't "really" a metal detectorist, not "really"! :dontknow: One isn't "really" a detectorist unless they're turning up 100 year old targets. You know....the "GOOD" stuff. The rest, is just a waste of time to read about or even dig. ;)

(wonder how many will think I'm serious about that?)

Excellent saves! ALL of them!

WTG!

Thank you all for the the generous comments. That little coin really surprised me!

Congrats on your first Indian. I know there are more out there for you.

Nice mixture of new....old....silver....is also nice

I'm sure it's going to be like finding a gold ring when I find my first Indian Head cent too - (when I dug my first Buffalo nickel,
I called a friend in Hawaii to brag about it !)

On that 1905 IH, I think I see an D mint mark beneath the wreath but not sure. I zoomed in on the picture.

Nope I was wrong. Did some research and IH's were made at 2 mints. No mint mark and s. So it can't be a D. ha ha

It took me all was a full year before I finally found an Indian head Penny. One year later and am up to I think 27.
They Are One of my favorite coins to find.
Hope you find many more!

Congrats on your IH! It's in way better shape than my only.
