Hello everyone on TNet!

I've had a ton of fun this year with my new favorite hobby.

I want to thank all of you for your support and interest in my finds this year, and give a shout out to Decender and WisconsinPirate. Local detectors who shared their sites with me. Glad to have hunted with you guys and am looking forward to hunting again soon!

Defiantly looking forward to springtime. I want to get out of my comfort zone and have some spots I cant wait to detect.

Woke up this morning to a few inches of snow and below freezing temps. Almost didnt go out but the kids were up and ready to play in the powder, so why shouldn't I be?

Brushed off the car and it the road .3 miles to this BIG old tree. Its just off the property line of my kids school. I drive past this tree 4 times a day and its always been tempting to hunt. Im glad I hit it today for the first time.

For the fisrt 2 hours I didnt get much other than some big iron junk, rusty cans, pull tabs (Teachers drinking on lunch break?) a few wad cutters, and a piece of aluminum with an American Flag. And a 57 D Wheatie and clad.

I started to get cold and just walk deeper in the woods before I was going to leave.

I got a solid signal on my ACE... I pulled out a long thin silver chain! Woohoo! I would have been happy with just the chain. I rechecked the hole... and the charm was waiting for me :hello2:

I was pumped. I figured it was silver as it came out into the light. I checked for markings and there it was... 950 right on top!
I was hoping for .925 but this is 2.5% better lol.

Here she is all cleaned up. Looks like a woman holding a fruit basket on her head. A few beautiful colored stones but most likely glass.
But all gems are accounted for which I love

2.5% better is a lot better than it sounds.

Nice find, congrats.

Awesome Necklace and charm! Awesome day! The charm looks hand made with silver wire. I'd get the gems checked out just in case. They could be colored stones. Anyway, It was great going detecting with you. You inspired me to go out today, so I went to screw cap park. This is next to clad-stone park where I normally go. One new penny, and a copper tree tag. It was cooooooold and the ground was mostly frozen so I think today was the last day for the year. When it gets warmer lets go again.

Very nice necklace and charm...Congratulations!

Very nice necklace and charm...Congratulations!

MilDetector,

Super recovery. You found either a Mother's or Grandmother's pendant! Those stones are likely genuine, but in reality are inexpensive. Those are birthstones, She either had eight children, or if grandmother, three kids and 5 grandkids. On her skirt, left to right, I see Emerald for May, Pink Tourmaline for Oct., A white stone for April, probably white sapphire (diamond substitute). Above her head. Center, another April birth, top left then clockwise, blue sapphire for Sept., another October, red garnet for Jan. and finally Citrine for Nov. Really nice find. You know a family around there that matches that count? Could find the owner.

That's a great hunk of silver and a great capper to your year!

Thanks KG! I applaud your recognition of the birthstones. I thought for a fraction of a second thats what they were. I didnt see mine or any relatives color i knew. I never gave it a second thought until you mentioned it.
In my area both are a possibility lol. I believe I found it on a forgotten hiking path, About 3-4 inches down in hard soil not 50 yards from the BIG tree.
Im going to have to assume it was a grandmothers necklace. 3 kids 5 grand kids. I have lived in the area for a little more than a year in a heavily populated urban area. Probably hard to find the owner but i may post an add on craigslist.

Thanks for you input and precision of the colors of the stones!

My pleasure. It's really a nice pendant! Nice find!

That is an awesome cool recovery mate. Intact and cool as heck. Well done in the snow. Cabin fever is gonna' suck but, you found some really nice stuff and have a few good mates to hunt with. Very good start to a wonderful sport. :hello:

That is a sweet little find. The fact that it is complete makes it all that more special. Congrats.

She is a beauty.

Very nice piece of jewelry, congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice looking find....Congrats

What a great find!!! I’m impressed you got out on a freezing day. Now that I’ve gotten older I cannot handle the cold in Ohio and im sure it’s colder where you are. Congrats

Well done TMD! Hard core in the snow like that. It’s awesome of you to entertain the thought of a possible return.
Good luck!

Great story and a nice find. Thanks for sharing
