Never saw anything like that, but it's a pretty cool find.
How big is it? In the pic it appears pretty small.

about 1 inch by 2 inch

Part of one of the Roller stamps used to date things at businesses?

Definitely interesting and worthy of further investigation. I'd be excited about this find.

Would love to dig that! Interesting that the numbers are italic, the block is made for a specific month though month not stated. Are the small designs flowers? Andi

Well, it's not super old but it is super cool. Great find, try using some water color paint and make a print, then post it up here. You may be able to nail down a possible date on it.

unfortunately without the month (one of 4 each year with 30 days)
it is hard to tell what possible dates had a Wednesday the 1st..

Cool Calendar stamp find though

With the first day of the month being Wednesday, and thirty days in the month, clue #1 and 2. That narrows it down to either April, June, Sept, or Nov. With the flowers (clue #3) I'm guessing April, possibly June. Only nineteen possible years since 1885 (don't quote me, it's late). A fourth clue may be the composition of the plate itself. I'm guessing this is made of lead. I don't know what years that was done, but I'm sure that info is out there. Just my two cents worth, Hope you don't mind my meddling. This is a cool find. I have a lead plate that I found. I think I'll try the suggestion with the water color paint. Mine is a picture of something, possibly flowers.
