I was old it was a brass ship finder light with convex mirror

I was told not "old" that this was a brass shipfinder light. I need to know exactly what this it is and find the value because a guy wants me to sell it for him. I don't have a clue of how to list it.

Yes, the guy said it was a search light. It is functional. There is a plate on there that says Perkins Marine Lamp Hardware. I looked that up and found that location in Miami, FL. It is probably about 18" diameter. I will have to go out and measure it for sure. Do you all have a clue at what the value of this is?

Incandescent. Looks like this one of yours but also has a mounting pole coming out of the base of it. It has an electrical cord and plug

The man said you could really light up the area and see a long way. I haven't tried it and it is FREEZING OUTSIDE. I did measure and is was 14.5 diameter. If your interested in it, just tell me what you would like me to do and what pictures addition do you want

Looks to me like it's been painted. I don't think that white is patina.

Surf is trying to help you ascertain a value but you're not giving him enough to go on. I highly doubt he's interested in buying it. We need more, better pics.

1. Lay it out flat on the floor, and take a pic of the whole thing. Nothing else should be in the pic. Do this again to all sides (should be 4).
2. Take a close-up shot of the manufacturer's plate.
3. Take some pics of the lamp itself, from all sides, just as you did for the whole thing. Should be 4 pics, one of each end and each side of the lamp. The entire head of the lamp (but nothing else) should be in each picture.
4. Take some pics of the mount, shaft, and rotator. Maybe 3 pics total.

5. You should definitely test it before you sell it, and maybe take a pic as proof (you could substitute the proof for one of the #1 pics). The owner's word on functionality means nothing to potential buyers. They will want to see it for themselves.

Crawler, this may be a really cool item. I don't know. In it's present condition, it looks like a fixer upper of epic proportion. You can't present it to the market with these photos, and the "He said…" disclaimer, and expect to get much for it. I know my wife would have some choice comments, if I dragged something that large & crusty home for free, let alone bought it.

It has a hidden appeal, that crosses collector lines, but looks a daunting project now. Are the business end lenses in place?
