ID of Item Found Near Artillery Emplacement

I found this large iron item at the site of a Union artillery battery used during the Vicksburg campaign. BUT, there was also an old house in the area as well. Is this an item that was from a cannon or just something from the farm house? Please help!!

Possibly, but this one is so large. It looks as if a rope would go through the loop.
The reins holders I've found before are 1/3 this size.

Thanks for your input. It's just that this size has got me stumped and made me contemplate a cannon connection. Thanks again for responding.

I did find a dropped 12 pounder cannister round at the exact same area.

Looks to me to be an old lifting eyebolt. The opposite end of the eye should be threaded under the corrosion. You can see the hex nut .

Well, if after cleaning it up a bit you spot the letters "ASTM" or "A489", probably not that old.

It does look pretty heavy-duty, so possibly related to farm activities.
I think it's just a bit too large to be associated with early rural electrification efforts, but maybe?

My guess is maybe depending on the year. There were threaded applications during the CW. It's possible lifting eyebolt we're used for lifting the heavy equipment. This bolt just looks more Modern to me.

It's a3/4" eyebolt used for lifting or tying down. I don't it is very old because of the hex nut. older one would have a square nut.
