ID this gadget for me please?

I dug this up at a local park that has lots of history too it. From revolutionary troops to even possibly union troops having been there.
Item is about 2" x 1.5"... when I dig it up I didn't know what it is, when I got home and was cleaning it, I thought it might be a old geometry tool but can't find any that looks like it.

Clock sounds good , don't know what a sextant is .
I'm assuming it Brass.
