This is a very wide piece. I haven't tested it yet for gold content.

I think it is a bracelet for a cat. Or a napkin ring.

Looks like the edges of coins stacked together. Interesting piece. My first thought was baby bracelet but then I thought it would be very heavy for a baby.
 
I am going out on a limb here and it may have been used for a Bridal bouquet.
 
At 90 years old it looks too shiny to be brass or bronze, unless it was well protected. Brass would be turning green, Bronze would be tarnished. The inscription looks dark. Vermeil maybe?

It certainly looks like $20 gold pieces stacked and hallowed out.
 
Are you able to test it or have it tested? If that turns out to be gold that would be a killer find!!
