ID'ing bullet era help!

This was a find from a while ago but I've always been curious as to how old it could be. Found on a farm in the fields of Petaluma, CA, I thought it may have just been something to kill the thanksgiving cow with haha. It looks like something from the 1800's though! Could it be? Any help appreciated as to what era it is from.

It looks like a colt pistol bullet, but I can't be sure. Clean out the ring and see if there are any crimp mark in it. That would indicate a more modern bullet. If not I think there is a chance it is a colt. If it is a colt it could go back to the civil war era.

It is an 1860s-through-1870s Colt "New-Model" bullet for Colt's revolver. You didn't give us size measurement, so I'll have to estimate its diameter by comparing it with the dime (.70" diameter) in the photo. It appears to be a .44-caliber Colt bullet, but it might be a .36-caliber.
