I got back to the campus to do some more swingin with the CZ 21. I got permission to start work on some fields that had been off limits before. They saw that I was always neat and left the ground like I found it and picked up surface trash. I also stayed out of areas I did not have permission to detect. So when I asked to extend my detecting my request was granted. It pays to be neat and obey the guidelines set by the person in charge of the property you detect.
I spent 4 hours detecting a new field. I did a walk around checking to see where I might want it start gridding. The ground had a few iron heavy areas, but most of the ground was pretty empty of signals. I did find a few tabs, a little foil, some can slaw and 74 coins with a face value of $3.20.
The best find was actually an iffy signal. It was a weak mixed mid and high tone that I almost didn’t dig. When I cut the plug I found a nice 1886 Indian head on edge. When it was out of the plug and flat it gave a nice high tone. When I popped the dirt coin ball the imprint of the coin was clearly visible in the dirt and left no doubt about what I had found. I do love it when you get a nice clear impression like that. Unfortunately the picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s not in great condition, but a nice coin anyway and I like it.
So another good hunt with a little gas money and a nice old coin. Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
