I found this yesterday morning on my favorite creek. I can't tell if it is broke off at the tip or if it was worked that way. It looks like maybe it was broke and then they reworked it. I took a close up of the tip. What do you all think?

Also, any ideas on the type? The closest thing I can find is an Adena Waubesa but I don't think that's right.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice, great insitu. I'm no expert, but I agree looks broken and reworked into a scraper. Not sure on type but it does look like something in the Adena family, maybe Adena Waubesa, or Adena Narrow stem. Thanks for the view.

Hi BobGuy, neat find. I'm in TX now but grew up in northern Illinois and also spent a lot of time drinking beer, er... I mean studying, in Champaign-Urbana. Just curious, what county or region of the state are you hunting in, if I may ask?

Neat find, I agree that it looks reworked.

I am in southern Illinois. I too spent a lot of time drinking beer and studying but I was over in Bloomington-normal!

That is an awesome piece! Just Beautiful material. Don't think I have ever seen one like it. Thanks for sharing.

Nice One! Looks like it may have been utilized as a halfed scraper.

I don't have anything like it so I was pretty excited!

So it was a hatred scraper but do you think it started off as a projectile point?

Most likely 99% yes but no way to be 100% sure. Since there was no local Walmart then they wasted nothing. Break a point re-work it into something else...Maybe it started as longer scrapper?

No size reference but my guess is it use to be a spear or knife.
