I remember that morning well. . . and your comment about how REALLY bad
you wanted to find your first Shield. It was wonderful to be out there hunting with
you when you found it :thumbsup: That site we hunted has been awesome
to a lot of the Illinois contingent this season. I wonder if it's hunted out yet? ::)

This past October I got my own Shield Nickel surprise as well. . . in a wooded
area next to an old church which was at one time, an old farmstead.

Was hunting with my buddy last week, first coin was a '41 jefferson so we were pretty hopeful for the area. Not too much else that day except for '52 wheat. After the hunt we drove through mcdonald's and when the cashier handed me the change I handed it to my buddy. He laughed and handed me a nickel...a '39 D Jefferson (my oldest nickel)...I'm going to start CRH'ing during the winter months.

Mine's a V also.. '99 I probably would have ignored it, but found it in with a couple wheat's.

Around 186......... not wort to post pcs. Very b. cond , best shape was from "" pocket spill "" V-1903
 

I found my oldest nickel in 2008 crh'ing. It's an 1883 no cents liberty nickel in GREAT condition... ;D
