Jeff,

welcome to the forum.

Do not know where you live.

Forest Preserve Districts, (counties), are all different.

Cook County is open; Will County is closed: Du Page is
closed.

Check the County FPD, Forest Preserve District, on line
for rules and regulations.

What area are you from?

have a good un.............

here sherm "about 40 miles west of chicago, around the Bartlett area."

Thanks for the heads up guys. It is hard to believe some counties are as picky as they are and i wonder how they came to ban detecting. Just goes to show no matter how much you may enjoy something, somebody else has to find a way to spoil it.

Jeff.

I detected in the forest preserve woods of Will county
for years and years.

One day,
The Woman and I were sitting near the van and I had my detector
next to us, IN SIGHT. Cop pulls up and lets me know I cannot do it.

He was real nice, interested in MD's.

If I stayed in the woods area he would never know.

It is against the law, but like I said, I detected in the woods
for years prior to learning what the regulation was.

I like the Will County Forest Preserves; I do not sit next to
the van with my detector since my encounter.

Enough said?

have a good un.........

I try to stay within the bounds of the law, but would hate to have my XLT & finds confiscated. Especially since i am still trying to learn how to use it to get the max effect. In the past most property owners have welcomed me and are more are interested seeing the XLT. None have ever wanted a share of the finds, not that all trips have been sucessfull but i continue to get better at it. Forest preserves have been around hundreds of years and they seem a logical choice for guys like us. It is not like we are out there with bulldozers to dig the finds either. I suppose it depends on what kind of day officer friendly is having as well.
