Metal Detecting
I'm soon to make my first trip to Israel. Does anyone have any experience metal detecting in Israel? My plan is to metal detect Frishman Beach in Tel Aviv only. Frishman Beach appears to be a beautiful white sand beach on the Mediterranean sea crowded with lots of people. I have no plans on detecting anywhere else. What can I expect from airport security in Israel? Any info much appreciated.

Airport security is not like it is in the US. You get screened by a team of trained personnel who will be attempting to determine if you have any bad intentions. They will probably ask you a series of probing questions. If you have nothing to hide, then you will simply answer their questions and be sent on your way.

Regarding actually detecting in Israel... You will definitely want to research that more heavily. They have fairly extensive antiquities laws. Be careful. Remember that the politics over there is not what you are used to. Make no assumptions.

Also, you may want to consider doing something like this: Archaeological Seminars - Dig for a day

"Dig for a day". They take you to an archaeological site called a "tell". It is a pile of earth which has several thousands of years worth of civilizations all buried on top of each other. You get to go to a part being excavated and dig up artifacts. You can dig up pottery and all sorts of relics that are thousands of years old. When I went, one of the people in my group found a coin! Yes, you do get to take some relics home as souvenirs.

There is no issue at all where you wish to MD, done it many of times and found lots of silver.
