No thats a rip off. thats 4 cents per wheatie. People usually wont pay more than 2 cents per coin for them anyways

The wholesale price for 1940s and 1950s wheat pennies is 3-4 cents. So $2 a roll sounds okay.

I would recommend against buying rolls of wheats, unless you find older, more valueable wheats in the rolls.

You can get most 1940s and 1950s wheat pennies for 1 cent each by buying a box of pennies for $25 and searching for wheats, Indian heads (I found one after looking for 1 yr) and foreign pennies (usually Canadian). Find a good dump bank, preferably one that has a coin counter so you don't have to re-roll.

I agree with this. $2.00-$2.50 per roll for common date wheaties is no bargain, but isn't ridiculously overpriced either. Its very difficult to find them any cheaper in small quantities.

I agree with MI: take the money you were going to spend on these wheat pennies, go to the bank, and buy rolls of pennies. Sort out the wheats, cash the rest back in at another bank, and repeat the whole process. You'll probably enjoy it, still eventually end up with the rolls of wheats that you want, and might even find an Indian head or rare date wheatie along the way. Several people on this forum average well over 10 wheats per $25 worth of pennies searched.

If that doesn't interest you, just buy the wheats. Its doubtful you'll find them any cheaper than $2 a roll unless you buy in pretty large quantity. Its also almost a guarantee that the wheats will be all common dates and/or low condition coins.

well i bought a $25 box and i found 10 wheats in it and i also bought $20 in wheat back pennys and i got alot from the 10's 20's and 30's so right now i have about 1100 wheats the new guy i found to buy them from said he doesnt search them cuz he dnt have enough time he said he throws them all in a box right now he has 45 pounds of them and what coins could i collect that wouldnt be that expensive cuz i dnt have very much money right now
