April is when the brown gold, elk antler, can be found by those foolish enough to venture into the wilderness to claim it.

So many cool things can be made from them. We have made coat hooks, knife handles and necklaces from whitetail sheds in the past. The elk sheds must be amazing.
 

Nice country. Reminds me of the Cabinets in NW Montana. What's the $ value of sheds? Curious.
 

About $19 a pound currently. Those two are smaller and weigh in at about 5lbs ea. A large antler can weigh 10 lbs. or better. This picture was taken “somewhere” high in the Absarokas. 😎
