Indian tree markers.

I never new what an indian tree marker was before reading about it on this forum. Now I have a question, do these trees ever lead towards treasure or just thier old water sources, herbs, and crossings? I didn't know the indians to really have any treasure but I guess anything is possible. Any help would be appreciated. I think I have seen a couple here in SC. No pics as though when I saw them I did not know what they were. So when I make it back out there I will take a few pics and see if anyone knows for sure if thats what they are or not. And thanks for any info anyone can give.

I heard about them when I was a kid but I assumed it was bull because that would be one old tree. Sorry I can't help, I'm sure someone else will.
