Infinitum DD & Freq

I could never get my Infinium to settle down in salt water. I tried both coils.

I always had a weeewaaaa-weeeewaaaa up and down with the waves and any time I moved it in salt. It would quiet down a little if I was all the way under, but never in the surf.

The noise was so frustrating that I finally bought a CTX and the Infinium is a dust magnet now. The only reason I'm keeping it is for nugget shooting out west.

Yeah I'm sure hunting in the fresh water has some definite advantages and I've been pretty lucky so far. But my last hunt was on the shore of Lake Erie next to a large marina so maybe that was causing the intense freq, problems or mineralization. I'm heading back there now and will take my extra coils but being so cold I don't think I will swap to the larger Mono of DD and just tough it out. IT was still ok to hear the differences in the hum but not as consistent as my other beach hunting. Thanks.

Couldn't think of a better test, I put the 10x14 mono coil on today and the machine had a stable hum from the get go. Weird the 8" mono was so unstable the last time. Found a bit of clad but need to invest in some waders to get out in the water when its cold. This Infinitum really is amazing, it picks up little tiny pieces if wire like metal below 6 inches, so sensitive.

Hair pins are annoying.

The same situation-My Infinium works fine on salt wet sand, the black sand is not a problem, but underwater 1 foot and deeper its too noisy! Anybody used 3 by 7 or 5 by 10 inches coil underwater?

I've not had issues whether its under water or not, if its stable starting out, coming in and out of the water there is no change.

Qmaze, want to trade infiniums?

Gib, I just had replied to a PM you sent me back in sept! I couldn't agree more I have tried to use the 8" and 10" mono coils at several coast (pacific Ocean, Cancun, Fort Lauderdale) and I just cant get it to quiet down in the waves.

I'll keep for fresh water lakes as John Edmenton says its a killer farther out away from the shore where all the trash is! I like the ability to hone in on Gold with the high tone low tone.

Mine is coming back from the Garrett doctor. Come to find out that I smartened up after all these trips to the beach and NO GOLD. I took a 3 g. 14K wedding band to my last trip to Fort Lauderdale and after searching 8 hours straight I said what the heck!! so I took the ring out and come to find out its not hitting anything deeper than one inch. I finally sent it in and it had a bad circuit so it had to be completely replaced!!
