i found this point in my scoop the other day when I was digging a signal. Found in the water in south mississippi. I know nothing about points so maybe someone here can give me some information about it. one side is flat and the other is shaped like every other arrowhead I’ve ever found. I think it’s quartz.

Little dart but idk the type.
Good Find

I thought maybe it was a bird point, I have also found several pieces of clay pottery in the same area

First, bird point does not mean it was meant for birds. Also, no one can tell what has been broken off in the basal area and that provides some of the determining factors of whether it was a notched typed, stemmed, etc... which helps determine their age--at least within a thousand or so years before present (YBP). If it happens to be older than 2KYBP, that is before the bow & arrow was invented by Native Americans. Many minute details to consider when determining age and usage. Also, dart implies a spear that was fired without the assistance of a bow but rather an atlatl.
