Interesting Figural Clay Pottery Head Jug, Unmarked

I picked this small clay head jug up in a box lot at an auction. It is not marked and I have no idea if it has much value, but it does appear to have some age and the quality seems to be pretty nice. It needs a good cleaning and is full of dust/grime, but it has no chips or cracks. It kind of looks like its based on a cartoon or comic character. It measures about 5" tall and the little opening on the top is about 7/8". Any help would be appreciated.

Kind'a looks like the old "howdy doody" character from the 50s / 60s.
