I got permission to hunt a site where a crew of surveyors lost their hair back in the 1860's here in Nebraska. The reports gave pretty good directions. When I got in the area I wasn't hitting much except old barbed wire. Then I found this. It was 12" deep between 2 huge ash trees. I have no idea if it is modern or from that period. It is iron. 1.5" wide, 1/2" hole, 1/4" thick, and that ear is 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2". The small hole is 1/4"
Anybody ever seen anything like it?
