Detector(s) used
Radio Shack (BH Landstar)
I found this site due to watching "Meteorite men" and thinking that would be fun. This was one of the sites that came up on google. I soon found out Georgia is not really a good spot for the iron meteorites, but I began reading the forums and was blown away at what you fellas find. I have spent hours upon hours reading the information on this forum, researching detectors and technics. The range of prices and reviews are astounding.

I was talking with a friend about the bug that was biting at me and he told me he had a detector that he bought 10 years ago to search for a wedding band he lost. He said I could use it as long as I wanted. My grandson works for him and he sent it home with him. It has all of the features I see talked about here. I figured, being 10 years old, the technology had out grown it, but was very surprised.

I have read the manual and will take it out tomorrow and start practicing in the yard with ground balance and all of the other adjustments available on it. I am sure there is a lot of trash stuff out back so it should allow me to figure out this machine. Here is a picture of it.

Aah the bug bit you did it. Welcome to T-Net and the best of luck to you. That's a good detector your starting with and should reward you well in your hunts. If I may make a suggestion, check to see if you have a metal detecting club in your area and join it! The friends you'll make and the knowledge you'll learn will last you a life time. Happy Hunting and Good Luck.

Hello to a new "bitten fellow." We all know exactly what you are talking about, whether it was 6 months ago, or 6 years, or 35
as in my case. THE BAD NEWS: it doesn't get any better, and doesn't go away. It just keeps getting your hands and pants and shirts dirty.......and putting some incredible things in your pocket.......and increasing your interest in history. All in all,
not a bad sickness to have.
Keep us posted on what you find.....we will look forward to you finding your first wheatie, and silver coin, and indian head, and and and and......

That is great info jeep. I used it to google and found a 20 minute detailed instructional video on how to use the detector. It really made a difference in the learning curve. I set it up and searched the back yard and found 1 Quarter, 1 Dime, 1 nickle and 5 pennies. 4 zinc and one copper.
This is an incredible forum and I thank all of you for the welcome and encouragement.

Best of luck, you are hooked now, start saving up lots of money and jump on in!!! :laughing7:
